This initiative aims to improve the natural environment by increasing plant diversity and providing habitat for wildlife, whilst decreasing the amount of watering needed to maintain our backyards. All shrubs, groundcovers, climbers and grasses available are indigenous to the City and have thrived in this region for thousands of years.
Community gardens promote social interaction across generations and cultures through common interests, healthy eating and shared skills and knowledge.
Council has two community gardens. Wynn Vale Community Garden was established in 1994 and Dernancourt Community Garden opened its gates in mid 2012. These are both supported by City of Tea Tree Gully and welcome visitors.
Wynn Vale Community Garden
Located behind the kindergarten at 32 Park Lake Drive, Wynn Vale.
Visitors are invited 10am-12pm on Saturdays.
