Wynn Vale Dam

Wynn Vale Dam, with a capacity of 100 megalitres, is located on Park Lake Drive, Wynn Vale and provides a unique wetland area for the community to enjoy.

In 2009 the Wynn Vale Dam stormwater harvesting and treatment plant was constructed. This plant cleans, disinfects and stores approximately 400 megalitres of stormwater per annum in fractured rock underground aquifers for use on our parks and reserves during the dryer months.

S Wynn & Company originally constructed the dam in 1962 to irrigate their vines in the Modbury Estate.

Wynn Vale Dam Environmental Outdoor Classroom

In June 2012, interpretive signage was installed around the dam, this signage provides information about the wetland area and includes interactive activities for school children and families visiting the dam.

A Wynn Vale Dam Outdoor Education Package has been created and is linked to wetland education resources provided by the Natural Resouces Management Board (NRM Board). This outdoor package is aimed at primary school children.

Children can access a range of activities whilst learning about the wetland environment and the seasonal changes which affect the dam. Loan equipment is also available from the NRM Board.
