Road and Cycle Safety Centre

The Road and Cycle Safety Centre makes learning fun for children aged 5-12 years.

The centre's road network, in miniature, gives children real-life experience as they learn essential safety skills including how to:

• Read traffic signals
• Walk across railway and school crossings
• Negotiate roundabouts and gutters
• Recognise traffic signs and line markings
• Cycle on roads or footpaths

The cost varies depending on the type of session and includes:

• A trained instructor
• Bikes - size 12 and 16 (with stabilisers) and 20, 22 and 24
• Helmets - although we prefer you to bring your own if possible
• A drink

Participants are required to wear enclosed shoes along with comfortable clothing for cycling.

Programs Available

School Class Groups

These lessons are 1.5 hours in duration and are tailored to suit the age of the students. Each session starts with a group discussion on road safety, followed by practicing safe cycling skills. The cost for these class sessions is $6.00 per student, which includes bike and helmet hire and a drink.

School Holiday Program

Road Safety Education lessons are held during the School Holidays for children from 5 - 12 years of age. These sessions follow the same format as the school class sessions and are 1.5 hours in duration. Participants book into these sessions and attendance costs $10.00 per child, which includes bike and helmet and a drink.

Birthday Parties

The centre is a popular venue for birthday parties for children aged 5-12 years. The whole facility can be hired for a two-hour session on the weekend between 10am and 4pm, with the last session starting no later than 2pm.

The cost per child is $10.00 and includes:
(please note: after 1 July 2013 the cost per child will be $12.00).

• A trained instructor
• Bikes - size 12 and 16 (with stabilisers) and 20, 22 and 24
• Helmets - although we prefer you to bring your own if possible
• A drink
• Trestle table for food

A non-refundabe deposit of $100 (payment for the first 10 children) is required within 14 days of the booking.
(please note:  after 1 July 2013 the deposit will be $120).

Food-heating facilities are not available, however there are a range of takeaway food shops nearby.

As these sessions are extremely popular, we encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment.
