Volunteers

Community Bus

Introduction

The City of Tea of Tea Tree Gully is a vibrant community and we support volunteer involvement in a range of community based programs.

We recognise that volunteers play an important role in the provision of services to the community and we value their contribution. Volunteering is a great way to engage with others in a meaningful way, meet new people and develop or enhance skills.

The Council’s volunteer program provides important services such as transport, library and support services, including Justice of the Peace, graffiti removal and dog obedience, to name a few.

How to apply for a volunteer role

To express an interest in volunteering with Council please complete our online registration form.  You will be contacted by the Volunteer Coordinator  within two working days to discuss your application and we will advise you of the next step.  Completion of a registration form does not automatically guarantee a volunteer position at Council.  Also, there may not be a suitable vacancy or any vacancies at the time of your application.   However, if your application is accepted you may be given the opportunity to be placed on a wait list for a specific role, if you wish. We’ll let you know if this is appropriate.

The Process

All applicants will be required to attend an interview with the Volunteer Coordinator to identify skills, experience, qualifications and suitability.

Successful applicants will be asked to undertake a national criminal check prior to being accepted and every three years thereafter.  All volunteers are required to attend a Council induction and relevant mandatory training, as well as program specific orientation and training.  We will provide this information and assist you in this process.

Volunteers will be supported on an ongoing basis with regular volunteer team meetings, and ongoing refresher training or task specific training.  Volunteer programs and positions are reviewed on a regular basis and may be subject to change as required.

Please read the Volunteer Frequently Asked Questions page to assist you with any queries you might have.
