Private Parking Areas

Our Parking Officers can issue notices on private property if the owner has an agreement with Council. We aim to help ensure regular turnover of cars so that parking is available to customers and suppliers throughout the day in peak areas. We can provide services in relation to policing the Private Parking Areas Act in private car parks in the City. For example, the privately owned car park of a shopping centre may be controlled by us through arrangement with the owner.

The car parks with these arrangements all display appropriate signage. We place erasable marks on tyres to help determine length of stay. Any fine, penalty or expiation fee recovered in respect of offences relating to the private parking area is paid to us.
