As well as informing the development of our Strategic Plan 2011-2015, Council also used the feedback from create20forty to inform the development of our Draft City Master Plan 2011-2040.
The Draft City Master Plan is the physical expression of Council's vision and objectives for our City and consists of eight maps and associated commentary to describe the main physical features of our City as envisaged for 2040. The plan is linked with Council's other strategic documents including the Strategic Plan 2011-2015, the long-term financial plan and asset management plans and is consistent with the objectives of South Australia's Strategic Plan and the 30 Year Plan for Greater Adelaide.
From 13 April to 13 May 2011, the community and other key stakeholders were invited to have their say on the draft plan.
Copies of the document and feedback forms were available from the Civic Centre, Recreation Centres, Library and Community Centres or from Council's website. In addition:
Written feedback was sought on each of the eight maps and supporting commentary, specifically asking:
We received 44 written responses from the community and other key stakeholders such as Government agencies, non-government organisations (NGOs) and businesses. A number of Council staff also provided feedback on the document.
An alternative way for the community to provide their feedback was to participate in one of two workshops held at Council's Civic Centre on 2 & 4 May 2011. A total of 21 community members (plus three Councillors) attended.
On 22 February we held an interactive and fun workshop with over 50 students from Golden Grove High School, Kildare College and Modbury High to glean ideas for the City Master Plan. The students discussed key themes including housing, transport, entertainment, recreation and industry for the Modbury and Golden Grove precincts, thinking about the present and how these areas might look in 2040.
The feedback was used to further develop and refine the final version of the City Master Plan 2011-2040 which was endorsed by Council on 28 June 2011.
The final version of the City Master Plan consists of the following maps and with commentary:
