Permits

Introduction

Permits are required for public activities and activities that may impact on your neighbours. Permits assist Council to administer activities and to implement guidelines established for public safety, health and in the interest of responsible action by residents.

Permit to Light a Fire

A permit is required if you live in Rural A, Rural Living, Hills Face and the Mount Lofty Ranges zones these zones and wish to burn such things as dead branches and fallen leaves for the purposes of protecting your property from Bushfire. Burning is only permitted outside the Fire Danger Season between 1 May and 30 November.

Burning is only allowed in residential zones if you are cooking i.e. wood BBQ's, cooking tomato sauce, unless there is a total fire ban has been issued on the day.

Access over Council Reserve

Any person wishing to gain access over any Council Reserve within the City requires permission from Council. The applicant shall take out and keep current a public risk insurance policy in the name of the permit holder, insuring the permit holder for a sum being not less than ten million dollars ($10,000,000) and provide Council with evidence of such public risk insurance policy with the application.

Hard Refuse Bins on Roadway or Footway

Any person wishing to place a hard refuse bin, miniskip or shipping container on a roadway or footway within the City requires permission from Council. The applicantion needs to be accompanied by the fee payable.  A minimum of 5 working days is required to assess the application.

Selling from Streets

Any person wishing to sell ice cream, or any other food or non-food product in the street or any other place, requires permission from Council.
