Welcome to the Development Assessment (Planning, Building and Compliance) pages. Within this section you will find useful information on the services provided by the City of Tea Tree Gully Development Assessment Team.
We pride ourselves on providing exceptional levels of service to our customers and these pages have been specifically designed to assist applicants with the lodgment of development applications. Please refer to the links to left of this page for useful information relating to the development assessment process.
Our planning and building staff are highly trained professionals with qualifications in urban and regional planning, and building surveying, and their core function is to efficiently process the full range of development applications submitted for assessment.
Whilst planning and building staff may provide some very basic design advice on development proposals, this is not a service generally offered by Council and applicants are encouraged to obtain advice from an independent planning or building professional on design matters.
Applicants are also encouraged to perform their own research on Council's requirements for new development by reviewing the suite of Development Information Guides available on this site. This information has been specifically developed to assist applicants with the lodgment of development proposals by identifying the minimum level of information that must accompany a development application, together with Council's design standards for new developments.
The Development Act stipulates that a development must not occur unless it is an approved development. The role of the Development Compliance Officer is to investigate reports of illegal developments occurring within our City.
All investigations and actions relating to illegal development occurs strictly in accordance with Council's Enforcement Policy
(55 kb).
