Citizenship Ceremonies are special events where citizenship candidates take the pledge of commitment to Australia and are officially pronounced Australian Citizens.
The City of Tea Tree Gully holds seven Citizenship Ceremonies each year to warmly welcome our new citizens.
The Australian Citizenship ceremony is a formal occasion which takes approximately one and a half hours.
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship will invite candidates to attend a ceremony, together with any children included in their application. As part of the ceremony candidates are asked to make a pledge of commitment to Australia. Children under the age of 16 receiving Australian citizenship are welcome to attend and take the pledge, however it is not compulsory for them to do so.
Family and friends of candidates are invited to attend and light refreshments are served prior to the ceremony's commencement.
Members of Parliament and Elected Members are also invited to attend.
