Youth Connections is a program funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
Through Youth Connections, Youth Workers will work with Eligible young people to manage individual barriers and work towards personal goals associated with engagement in education, training and employment.
Aspects of service may include:
• One to one personal support
• Counselling
• Group work
• Referral to specialist services
• Support to re-engage in a variety of learning opportunities
• Advocacy
• Mentoring
• Outreach
• Partnering with local agencies and services to connect isolated and disconnected young people
• Flexible learning environment activities
Eligible participants for Youth Connections are:
• aged 13-19 years old
• at risk of not attaining Year 12 or equivalent (eg. Cert II) and of not making a successful transition through school and to further education, training or employment
• An Australian citizen, permanent resident or on a humanitarian visa (subclasses 200-204, 866 and 851)
Young people can be referred to Youth Connections through a range of different means, including:
• Schools
• Other education and training providers
• Other providers of services or programs involving young people
• Self-referral
• Family members or guardians
• Centrelink
