Reconciling our community

We are committed to supporting the reconciliation efforts of our fellow Australians. To ensure we have every opportunity this Sub-Committee was formed to firstly improve Council's knowledge and understanding of local communities, then to help identify a range of initiatives and events that we could host, as well as encourage and seek Indigenous participation in Council activities, community engagement and events.

One example of this work is the 'Reconciliation Feature Garden' officially opened on Monday 25 October 2010. The Sub-Committee worked collaboratively with staff and members of the local Aboriginal community to develop this idea.

All committees follow Council's rules of engagement and have adopted a standard style for Committee Agendas and Minutes. These details are provided within the current Committee Structure document. Council meetings are also conducted in accordance with the relevant Regulations under the Local Government Act, 1999. We are also bound by all relevant Australian law, both State and Federal.
