Council does not issue Disabled Persons Parking Permits. Requests for permits for disabled persons are available from Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI). Permits help eligible people park nearer to their destination. These permits must be clearly displayed at all times when parked in a Disabled Permit Zone.
The Disabled Person's symbol is displayed in car parks. Vehicles displaying a current disabled person's parking permit issued under Part 3D of Motor Vehicles Act 1959 and driven by or carrying the disabled person may use the parking space.
This permit is the means by which Council officers assess the eligibility of vehicles to park in these zones.
Applicants may request their doctor to complete the appropriate form for the permit to be issued - there may be associated costs.
The holder of a disabled person's parking permit must comply with all parking conditions and the following concessions apply for vehicles displaying a Disabled Parking Permit:
