With a current clubroom built in the 1970s, the Tea Tree Gully Tennis Club has welcomed news that a $5.5 million new clubroom is coming their way.

The new facility is in planning phase, with consultation underway to ensure it meets the needs of both the club and hirers. Construction is likely to begin in early 2024 and be completed by December that year.

The local sports community is set to benefit from the state-of-the-art new facility, including the club’s many members, plus the Strikers and Tea Tree Gully Netball Clubs.

The City of Tea Tree Gully ($2.65 million), the State Government ($2.75 million) and the club (under negotiation) are funding this project.

The existing building is no longer fit for purpose and will eventually be demolished.

An additional $150,000 has been provided by the State Government for the development of a Banksia Park Sports Area master plan to guide future development at the wider site, which also includes facilities for gymnastics, athletics, cricket and football.

The upgrade follows on from the recent $1.2 million upgrade of the site, including six multi-purpose courts and car parking improvements.
