Nominations to enrol as a candidate for the 2022 Local Government Election open at 9am Tuesday 23 August 2022 and close at 12 noon Tuesday 6 September 2022.
Most people who are on the Council voters roll can stand for this election if they meet the requirements to stand for election. It is not a requirement to live or own a property in the Ward you nominate for.
Becoming a councillor provides an opportunity to influence local decisions and create long term, positive outcomes for the City and residents.
Nominations are encouraged from people from diverse backgrounds to ensure that a wide range of views are represented.
With very few exceptions (such as being an undischarged bankrupt, or being disqualified from holding office by a court order), you can nominate for a position on Council regardless of qualifications, religion, race, gender, experience or profession.
If you are invested in the future of the City of Tea Tree Gully, are willing to learn and participate, and prepared to contribute strategically to decision making processes that benefit your broader community, then you should explore what it takes to be a councillor and nominate to stand in the Council elections.
