$1.7 million Montague Road upgrade
Published on 20 July 2022
A $1.7 million streetscape makeover of Montague Road, Modbury is occurring between the intersections of Reservoir Road and Golden Grove Road. Improvements will also occur in Gold Reserve as part of the works. The project is being undertaken in a bid to improve safety and beautify the area.
New shared-use footpaths will also be installed along the northern side of Montague Road. A bike lane extension will be developed linking Montague Road to Golden Grove Road via Gold Reserve. Retaining and irrigation, with a focus on water sensitive urban design, are important elements of the upgrade.
To further improve the area, landscaping will occur, including the planting of new street trees to provide additional shade.
Council was successful in receiving $250,000 for this project from the Department of Environment and Water for water management and revegetation. Council also received a $54,065 contribution from the Department of Infrastructure and Transport for the bike lane extension works.
The project is due for completion in December 2022.
Minor traffic disruptions are expected. Alternate routes will be provided for pedestrians. Please be patient and observe restrictions and changes to speed limit during the works.
