Compostable fruit and vegetable bags now available at Woolworths
Published on 24 May 2022
All Woolworths stores in South Australia have replaced their fruit and vegetable bags with locally made compostable bags that can be used in your Mini Muncher kitchen caddy.
Any food scraps and other organic material collected in your Mini Muncher can be placed into these bags and straight into your green-lid organics bin. The green bin organics are then converted into nutrient-rich compost-based products used by local farmers and growers to improve the quality of soil.
The fruit and vegetable bags available at Coles are currently made of 50% recycled plastic, and cannot be used in your Mini Muncher. They can be recycled at your local REDcycle retailer.
Another option for lining your Mini Muncher is to use newspaper. Alternatively, compostable bags are also available for City of Tea Tree Gully residents to collect from the Civic Centre, Modbury.
