Elliston Reserve reopens: A fresh start for the community
Published on 29 January 2024
Good news for residents and visitors to Highbury as the beloved Elliston Reserve is open and ready to welcome the community back.
Following a recent assessment, authorities have given the green light for public use of Elliston Reserve as the destructive biohazard, giant pine scale, is no longer present.
As of 30 January, the temporary fencing has come down, and the reserve is open. Council staff have been working diligently to tidy things up, fixing the footpath, cleaning picnic areas, and making the BMX track safe for use.
The BMX track includes a variety of jumps, corners and mounds to challenge kids and adults alike. Come and check it out during daylight hours.
Council staff have also placed signs around the reserve to guide residents how to use the space. Please remember to respect the area and not remove anything, including tree materials and pine cones.
These efforts are to make sure the reserve is not just open, but safe and accessible. Talks about future plans for Elliston Reserve are happening, with a report planned to be presented to Council in March 2024.
