Shade structure and lighting upgrade on way for Modbury Bowling Club

Published on 16 November 2021

Shaded greens and lighting improvements are on the way for Modbury Bowling Club.

Tea Tree Gully Council is set to start work on a $1.5 million upgrade of the club in January.

The long-awaited shade structure, to be installed over the bowling greens, will improve the usability of the site for the hundreds of people who bowl there every week.

The upgrades are being funded by the Council ($750,000), the State Government ($739,250) and the club ($100,000).

Council installed two new synthetic bowling greens for the club at a cost of $1.6 million in 2019.

The greens were the first of their kind in South Australia and meet world bowls standards.

Modbury Bowling Club is located in the
Modbury Sporting Hub, which borders Golden Grove Road, Ridgehaven.

The hub has a range of community and sporting facilities, including Waterworld, a skate plaza, dog park and the Road and Cycle Safety Centre. More information.
