A former mayor of the City of Tea Tree Gully, William Brassington, has sadly passed away. He died on new year’s eve at the age of 94.

Mr Brassington served on our Council for seven years between 1965 and 1985, with three years as mayor from 1969 to 1972.

“We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to his family and friends,” said Deputy Mayor Lucas Jones.

“Mr Brassington made a significant contribution to our community as our City’s second mayor.”

As a mark of respect, the flags at our Civic Centre will be flown at half-mast. The mayoral ceremonial robes and chains, once worn by Mr Brassington, will be displayed at his funeral on 10 January.
