Jeffries facility showing green waste placed in wind rows

The contents of your green organics bin never go to waste!

Here’s what happens to your green waste after it’s collected by one of our waste collection trucks.

The green waste is taken to Jeffries composting facility where it’s placed in wind rows to mature for 8 to 10 weeks.

The material is then screened, using the latest technology, to remove plastic bags, ceramics, glass and metal items, textiles, rubber, rocks and other contaminants.

You can help speed up this process by making sure these contaminants don’t go in your green bin in the first place.

The material is then used to create nutrient-rich compost, soil and mulch products for agriculture and gardens.
