Hope Valley Sporting Club has received a much-needed boost with the completion of a major upgrade.
The City of Tea Tree Gully recently constructed two new inclusive change rooms following a surge in membership for football and cricket, especially in junior and women’s teams.
Previously the club had non-inclusive change rooms with open showers and a secondary change room shed served as an overflow facility. These were deemed substandard and particularly unsuitable for women and children to use, and did not meet to SANFL and SACA facility guidelines.
The new change rooms were part of a $900,000 upgrade of the club. The upgrade also included a refurbished kitchen and bar, allowing the club to provide a social atmosphere for its 700-plus members and cater for future growth.
Costs for the upgrade were offset by $39,800 in State Government grants: $264, 800 from the Grassroots Football, Cricket and Netball Facility Program (Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing) and $127,000 through the State Local Government Infrastructure Partnership Program.
