Upgrades to main road streetscapes in Modbury are being driven by plans to transform the face of Modbury in a bid to attract investors and business growth.
A funding commitment by Tea Tree Gully Council and the State Government will see about $4 million investment in the Modbury area over three years until 2020.
The Council will contribute 80% of the project funding, with the remainder funded through the State Local Government Infrastructure Partnership job stimulus program, backed by the State Government and the Local Government Association of South Australia.
This year $900,000 will be invested in upgrades to North East Road, focusing on improving pedestrian connections and the appeal of the area between Civic Park and Westfield’s new dining and entertainment development, due for completion in late 2018.
Upgrades to Smart Road will continue, with an additional $900,000 allocated to upgrades between Reservoir Road and North East Road.
This will deliver improved footpaths, tree planting and landscaped verges and medians, complementing recent upgrades to Modbury Triangle Shopping Centre and a $90 million commitment from the State Government to redevelop Modbury Hospital.
The ongoing transformation of Modbury is also set to continue in residential areas with news of a major redevelopment of Dalaston Reserve this financial year to benefit residents in the area and encourage real estate investment.
