The Golden Grove Recreation and Arts Centre is feeling pretty cool right now, thanks to a $195,000 refresh.
New evaporative air-conditioners were installed over two sports courts at the start of the year, to replace the 20-year-old system. A large crane had to be used to install the new $145,000 air-conditioning units, with costs shared between Council and the Department of Education and Child Development.
The reception also received a $50,000 revamp over the Christmas break, to make it fully accessible for people with a disability. This included new electric shutters, a larger bench space and a Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)-compliant height desk, all funded by Council.
The upgrades have provided an improved visitor experience to cater for the needs of all visitors and staff, as the centre celebrates 25 years of operation in 2018.
