Modbury Bowling Club will have two synthetic greens by July this year.
Work is already under way on the installation of the synthetic greens at the club, which also has natural turf greens.
The $1.6 million project is being funded through a $630,000 Council contribution, $750,000 State contribution and $20,000 Federal contribution. The remainder will be funded by the bowling club.
It is the first stage of a master plan for the club, with plans for a roof to cover the synthetic greens during stage 2 of the project, which is yet to be funded.
Modbury Bowling Club has about 670 members. It is located within the Modbury Sporting Hub, which borders Golden Grove Road, Ridgehaven.
The hub has a range of community and sporting facilities, including Waterworld, a skate plaza, dog park and the Road and Cycle Safety Centre. More information.
