The City of Tea Tree Gully is taking an active approach in reducing its carbon footprint, with the installation of 395 new solar panels at the Civic Centre and Turramurra Recreation Centre.

The $158,000 investment is forecast to save $50,000 in electricity costs each year, and will pay for itself in just over three years.

The photovoltaic solar systems are a critical part of our renewable energy future, with the 395 state-of-the-art solar panels are being used to capture energy from the sun and convert it into a sustainable electricity source.

The benefits to the community and to the environment are considerable.

By switching to clean, renewable energy we will reduce our costs and the pollution associated with the use of fossil fuel energy sources. Unlike conventional power, solar produces no harmful emissions.

The installation is expected to be complete by March 2019.

This is a major step in our plan towards a cleaner, greener future for our City.
