A major streetscape upgrade, costing $1.2 million, has just been completed along North East Road at Modbury, between Reservoir and Smart roads.
Tree-lined footpaths and media strips now feature throughout this busy retail section.
Landscaping near car park entry and exit points was designed for the safe movement of traffic, ensuring sight lines maintenance at entry and exit points.
Tree root barriers have been installed to minimise the risk of roots impacting existing the road and footpaths.
The works, which employed about 10 people during construction, are part of Council long-term plans to revitalise the Modbury precinct to boost the local economy.
Other works in recent years have included further streetscape upgrades on other sections of North East, Smart and Reservoir Road and significant improvements to Civic Park.
Work is set to start in October on a substantial $400,000 upgrade of Elcombe Crescent, which leads from North East Road to Bunnings' car park. The road will be reconstructed, plus new footpaths, a vehicle turnaround, drainage, additional parking and landscaping will be installed by December.
The footpaths will be constructed from reused paving from North East Road.
