strength for life

Strength for Life goes from strength to strength, celebrating its 10-year anniversary in the City of Tea Tree Gully this year.

Strength for Life is a supervised over 50s fitness program using weight training equipment to build strength, balance and flexibility.

The program is held Monday to Saturday at Highbury’s Turramurra Recreation Centre, with more than 30 classes and 400 participants weekly. This high level of participation makes our Strength for Life program the largest in South Australia.

Forty-five current participants have been involved in Strength for Life since its inception.

“The City of Tea Tree Gully program has been the benchmark for Strength for Life starting with 92 clients in the first week of operation. The 10-year anniversary is a wonderful achievement both for the clients and the program,” said Jeanette Richards, manager of Strength for Life South Australia.

In the last four years, the Turramurra program has benefited from more than 30 University of South Australia exercise physiology student placements.

The City of Tea Tree Gully marked the anniversary by investing in $18,000 worth of new equipment for this popular and beneficial program.
