The Bay to Birdwood will return to the City of Tea Tree Gully in 2018, thanks to an $8,600 investment by Council through its annual Event Sponsorship Program.

The historic motoring event on 30 September will see hundreds of historic vehicles travel through the Council area via North East Road.

This year’s event will also feature a second start from Modbury’s Civic Park for veteran vehicles manufactured prior to 1919 and military vehicles manufactured up to December 1959.

Vehicles that choose to start from Civic Park will arrive from 7am and depart at 8.30am.

The park will then become a rest stop for some vehicles doing the run from the traditional start at Barratt Reserve, West Beach.

It is a real coup for the City to host what is considered to be the largest continually held historic motoring event anywhere in the world.

Everyone is encouraged to come along and stroll between the rows of vehicles and mingle with the citizen-collector owners or view the passing vehicle parade from the roadside.

The Event Sponsorship Program seeks to attract events that have a direct and positive impact on the City, the community and businesses by increasing tourism activity and raising the profile of the City.
