Plans by Tea Tree Gully Gymsports to expand its membership base have been given a boost, thanks to a Tea Tree Gully Council offer of a second building at the club’s current Banksia Park location.

Tea Tree Gully Gymsports already has 2,000 members and offers trampolining, kinder-gym, general gym and cheerleading from its current Elizabeth St premises.

Councillors approved a $1 peppercorn lease of the second building to the club. This falls in line with a Council policy on leases and licences for sporting and community organisations, which offers 100 percent discounts on leases for clubs that meet subsidy criteria.

The club has already contributed $460,000 of its own funds into its existing site for which it pays an annual lease of $161.

The second building was previously occupied by a Scout group, but has been vacant since February 2016.
