IGNITE is an ongoing public art development program run by the City of Tea Tree Gully and partly funded by Arts South Australia. The purpose of the program is to drive the staged development of Public Artworks in the Modbury Precinct.
In April 2017, we ran the IGNITE public art incubator, an intensive two-week think tank that saw experienced Public Artists Gerry McMahon, Project2project (Rachel Harris and Jess Loughlin) and James Dodd mentor six artists looking to develop their Public Art practice.
These artists worked closely with their mentors to develop ideas for Civic Park, Modbury Ave and the Modbury Sporting Hub.
Two artworks have been commissioned from the IGNITE program and two more are under investigation. The remaining ideas are being put to a public vote and the results will be made publically available soon.
