River Torrens Linear Park

River Torrens Linear Park

River Torrens Linear Park is one of the most expansive and picturesque locations in City of Tea Tree Gully and is a unique natural treasure.

With over 14 km of pathways, there are so many wonderful things to see and explore by foot or bike. A great start is to enter via the Promenade in Highbury, and take your time wandering along the creek line.

There are plenty of spots to picnic, relax and take in the beautiful surroundings.

The wetlands feature native fauna including birds and ducks. While koalas, kangaroos, echidnas, and lizards can also be spotted in this area. A 'bee hotel', a sanctuary for native bees, is located to the east of The Promenade.

Historical points of interest:

  • Old quarry
  • Original orchards and market gardens still preserved today
  • Athelstone House - state heritage
  • Old mill
  • Brood family house

For teachers: Tea Tree Gully Library's Children's and Youth team run self-guided school walking tours along the park. Please contact them for more information
