Time: 10am Walk Start  -  Arrive from 9am to check in and join in on the pre-walk activities.

A free community event where participants can treat their furry friend/s to a ‘dog's day out’. The walk will consist of a 2km trail weaving through the Modbury Sporting Hub with a couple of ‘pit stops’ along the trail to stop and collect some goodies. Free children’s entertainment including bouncy castles and face painting, as well as food trucks and some dog stalls will all be available for participants to enjoy once they have finished their walk.

FAQS

Where do I park my car?

Parking will be available around the Modbury Sporting Hub carparks including Waterworld, Modbury Sporting Club (parts may be blocked for event), Smith Partners Stadium and Ashley Avenue Dog Park. Parking will also be available around the surrounding streets, please observe parking rules and requirements.

Where do I register and collect my bag on event day?

When you arrive please go to the Registration Tent where you will collect your event bag prior to commencing the walk. We ask that you arrive before 9:30am so you have time to register and collect your bag prior to the commencement of the walk at 10am.

Does it cost anything?

No the Move Your Paws dog walk is a FREE family friendly event run by the Tea Tree Gully Council.

Will there be water and food available?

Water will be available at the start/finish line and along the course.  There will also be some food vans on site for purchase of food and drink.

What do I need to bring?

Your dog!!!

Also please bring your registration so you can collect your bag at the Registration Tent when you arrive,  as well as money for tea/coffee or snacks.  You may also like to bring a picnic for after the walk.

What level of fitness do I have to have to do the Move Your Paws dog walk?

Any level!   The trail is mainly flat however there are some irregular surfaces along the route including some small hills, uneven terrain, grass and footpaths. There is no pressure on finishing within a certain time.

How long will it take?

The trail is a 2km route around the Modbury Sporting Hub. Depending on fitness levels and dog excitement the route will take approximately 30 minutes to finish.

Do I have to cross any roads?

There is one road that will need to be crossed (within the Sporting Hub precinct) however we will have attendants on duty at this point of the trail for the duration of the walk to ensure the safety of event participants whilst crossing the road.

What do I wear?

Wear any comfortable, lightweight clothing you can walk in and sneakers.

Are there any rules for my dog’s participation?

Dog participants must be physically fit and able to participate safely and must be registered for the 2017-18 financial year. All dogs must be kept on a leash not exceeding 2 metres in length for the duration of the event and must not (to the best of the owner/human participants knowledge) have attacked, harassed or chased any person or animal owned by another person.

Please note it is the responsibility of the participant to immediately remove and dispose of any of their dog(s) faeces during the event (bins will be provided along the trail).

Can I push a pram?

Absolutely!  We do ask that you be careful on the terrain and stick to the left so walkers and dogs can pass on the right.

Is there first aid available?
