City of Tea Tree Gully supports people with hidden disabilities through the Sunflower project.
Globally 1 in 6 of us live with a disability or 4.4 million in Australia. Disabilities can be temporary, situational or permanent.
What is the hidden disabilities sunflower?
The hidden disabilities sunflower is a lanyard or wristband decorated with sunflowers.
People living with hidden disabilities may like to voluntarily wear a sunflower lanyard to signal that they need additional support – such as extra time to understand, shop, use transport or public spaces. Visit: Sunflower - hidden disabilities website
Our friendly Library, Waterworld, Event and Customer Service staff are learning to better support residents with hidden disabilities.
Ask for a free sunflower lanyard from the Library or a waterproof wrist band from Waterworld - depending on availability.
Sunflower products are also available at Tea Tree Plaza shopping centre at the concierge desk, or from the Sunflower hidden disabilities online shop
