Meningococcal immunisation programs

Meningococcal ACWY and Meningococcal B vaccines are available for members of the public to purchase at Council's Immunisation Clinic (vaccine costs). These vaccines are also available free of charge for eligible groups - see below for detailed eligibility information.

Meningococcal B program

What is the program?

The State Government funded Meningococcal B Immunisation Program provides free Meningococcal B vaccinations for eligible children and young people in South Australia.

Who is eligible for the Meningococcal B Immunisation Program?

Children and young people must be residents of South Australia, meet the eligibility criteria, and be in one of the following groups:

 

Where can my child be immunised?

Eligible children can receive the Meningococcal B vaccine for free at Council’s Immunisation Clinic. The vaccine is also available from GPs.


Meningococcal ACWY

The Meningococcal ACWY vaccine protects against four types of meningococcal infection – the A, C, W and Y types.

To be eligible to receive the Meningococcal ACWY vaccine for free, children and young people must meet the eligibility criteria, and be in one of the groups below. 

 

Where can my child be immunised?

Eligible children can receive the Meningococcal ACWY vaccine for free at Council’s Immunisation Clinic.  Young adults will also be able to receive this vaccine for free at Council from 1 April 2019 (through the Meningococcal ACWY Young Adult Catch Up Program). The vaccine is also available from GPs.
