Volunteering strengthens and connects our community, improving the health and wellbeing of both residents and volunteers.
Volunteer selection and introduction
City of Tea Tree Gully volunteers are individuals who are approved and registered to deliver over 30 programs and support our community. All our volunteer roles have personal and role requirements to ensure best fit for both the role and the individual.
Our volunteer selection process includes:
- Completion of an on-line application form
- Initial screening discussion - usually by phone
- Council volunteer interview and induction
- Referee checks
- DHS screening - where necessary
- On first attendance at their volunteering site/program, volunteers will receive a role specific induction to prepare them for their role and the management of Work, Health and Safety matters.

Time: Approx 4 hour shifts (days & times vary depending on needs by mutual agreement)
Where: Adelaide area
The Active Ageing team need two "relief volunteer bus drivers" to provide transport for older residents who travel on our Community Bus, Door to Door Bus and Social Programs. Initially the role will include orientation on various bus routes/programs, then grow to include fill-in shifts as required.
The role requires flexibility with days and times, however will be mutually agreed upon with Council staff and the volunteer. The role is suited for a person who enjoys driving and meeting new people. A current LR or equivalent licence is essential. If you are interested, please register here
Weekly Monday social out and about bus: 8.30am – 3.30pm
Fortnightly Tuesday social out and about van: 8.30am – 3.00pm
Fortnightly Thursday community bus: 8.30am – 1.30pm
Departing Tea Tree Gully Civic Centre. We are seeking friendly people who are happy to lend a caring hand and are excellent at organising groups of people. The role would involve assisting the Community bus driver by greeting clients, organising stops and assisting clients to embark and disembark the bus. If you are interested, please register here
Medical and shopping transport volunteer
When: one or two mornings per week
Time: as required
Where: Adelaide and North Adelaide
We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers with an minimum of one or two morning free per week to drive local residents to appointments.
Duties include providing transport for Home and Community support clients who need assistance to attend medical appointments in Adelaide or North Adelaide.
Volunteers are required to use their own car and maintain full comprehensive insurance. Mileage reimbursement will be provided. A current drivers licence is essential. If you are interested, please register here
