Applications for our 2023 youth leadership program have now closed.

The program offers structured leadership sessions, training and interactive activities for young people aged 15 to 22 years who live, work or study in the City of Tea Tree Gully.

These sessions are held weekly during terms 2 and 3, excluding school holidays. 

In addition to developing leadership skills, participants have an opportunity to be involved in designing, planning and delivering Council youth events such as the Youth Achievement Awards and Youth Leadership Conference. The program will culminate in a graduation ceremony.

Program overview

Youth Leadership Program is specifically designed to support young people who live, work or study in the City of Tea Tree Gully and who are aged 15 – 22 years.

The program requires a commitment of 2 hours per week, commencing Term 2. Youth Leaders who complete the course will be recognised for their commitments at a graduation ceremony in October 2023.

Weekly sessions will include structured content, relevant leadership training and access to inspirational and interesting guest speakers.

This exciting program has a focus on group learning and tailored outcome based sessions.

It promotes a co-led and co-designed model with the opportunity to increase your community knowledge and awareness, expand your networks and gain valuable practical skills to support your future leadership journey.

Program objectives

The Youth Leadership programs aims to provide you with opportunities that may:

  • Increase your confidence, self-esteem, and internal motivation
  • Support you to apply your leadership skills in your everyday life, school or work environment
  • Connect with a network of likeminded people
  • Further your self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-advocacy skills
  • Learn how to positively influence and lead others through giving back initiatives
  • Assist to develop and deliver Council events 

Costs

The program is free for youth leaders and will be provided with the following:

  • All relevant training and sessions
  • Graduation ceremony event
  • Light catering and refreshments
  • Youth leadership team outings

Session times

An Intensive team building day will be held at the end of Term 1 2023.

Weekly sessions from 4pm to 6pm commence Term 2 until mid-October 2023.
