Designing for access and inclusion in streetscape design involves creating spaces that are equitable, welcoming and functional for all users, regardless of their age, ability or background. Everyone should be able to move around the community in an equal and dignified manner, whether it is for business, work, education, social or leisure activities.
Council is committed to following ‘universal design’ principles, which guide the design of environments to minimise access difficulties and be inclusive to as many people as possible. Design streetscapes that celebrate diverse communities and cultural identities, ensuring everyone feels represented and welcome.
Advice may be sought from Councils DAIP (Disability Access and Inclusion Panel) as required. All enquiries should be directed to Councils Community Inclusion Officer.
