Heritage Places
- Wherever possible, ensure the use of universal design when designing upgrades at heritage sites. Keep in mind that as heritage sites, originally they did not have a focus on inclusive access and as such may require innovative thinking to upgrade sites in order to comply with current standards. Incorporating the diverse needs of all people requires careful attention to the different groups that may visit or use a heritage area.
- Aim to provide equitable access to the original front entrances of identified heritage places as a first priority. Wherever possible avoid making original front doors redundant.
- Priority should also be given to placing disability/courtesy parking as close as possible to building entrances and with pathway access.
