Be on the lookout for school speed limit changes

Road sign showing 40kph limit
Published on Thursday, 22 January 2026

Changes to speed limits around schools across the City are being introduced to help keep children, families and the community safe.

Some signage changes are being delivered by the State Government of South Australia as part of a statewide initiative, while others will be managed by Council. The Council-led changes are in response to new state guidelines.

Regardless of who is delivering the changes, the priority is the same: creating safer streets for everyone.

Advanced notice will be provided to schools and the community before signs are installed.

In addition, the general speed limit on The Golden Way has been adjusted to 60 km/h north of Wynn Vale Drive onwards – excluding  the school zone.

See below for more details about new school speed limits in our City.
