The City of Tea Tree Gully offers free, engaging, curriculum-aligned waste education programs for students from early years through to secondary school.
Each program is designed to build knowledge, encourage behaviour change, and support early learning centres and schools to take practical action toward reducing waste.

Perfect for early learners, this fun and flexible program uses hands-on activities to introduce simple waste and recycling concepts.
Designed for children in Early Learning through to Year 2 and aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework. It helps young learners understand why sorting waste matters - building positive habits for a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Aligned with the Australian Curriculum and an Inquiry-Based Learning approach, it is flexible, engaging and encourages action at school, home and in the community.
The program has been designed for years 3 to 6 with flexibility in mind and can be adapted to suit individual classroom timetables, lesson durations and assessment requirements.

Shape your city is designed for Years 7-10. This exciting, school-based competition challenges students to solve a real-world waste issue in their school or community.
Students learn directly from industry partners through engaging, locally relevant video content. Using design thinking and teamwork, they investigate the issue, test ideas and develop practical solutions that can make a real difference.
The flexible program runs throughout term 3 and can be delivered in the classroom or as part of an environmental, STEM or lunchtime club.
The competition launches in week 1 of term 3 and closes in the final week of term 3. Teams compete against other local high schools for the opportunity to win funding to implement their solution at their school.
