Completion of the new dog park at Tilley Recreation Park has been delayed until late 2026 due to recent wet weather.

However, the wait will be worth it as it will have all the ingredients to set tails wagging – areas for big and small dogs, plus places to run and explore.

And for discerning hounds, signs will feature artwork in blues and yellows, the colours that dogs can see!

Thirteen-year-old Harrison looks forward to bringing his pug Ralph to the dog park.

“Ralph has a lot of energy to burn, and he likes meeting other dogs. He’s going to love coming here,” he said.

The dog park is part of stage 2 of Tea Tree Gully Council’s $9.5 million masterplan project for the overall park, which also includes works at the Tea Tree Players Theatre.

A striking mural, painted by local artist Nina Barnden earlier this year, has already transformed the rear of the theatre.

Nina hopes the mural brings people “some joy and happiness”.

Stage 2 also covers redevelopment of the public toilets, upgraded car parking, more footpaths and storage for sporting clubs.

Stage 1 saw the construction of a new clubroom, for the Tea Tree Gully City Soccer Club and new shot put and discus pads for the Golden Grove Little Athletics.

Thank you to the state government for $6.2 million in funding towards the masterplan project.
