AusAlert is a new national warning system to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices. Before it is launched in October 2026 the system is being tested across Australia.

On Monday 27 July 2026 at 1.30pm, compatible mobile devices in South Australia may receive an alert. This includes most phones, and some smart watches and tablets.

  • This is a test only – you don't need to do anything.
  • The alert will vibrate and play a loud siren-like sound lasting about 10 seconds. If this may disrupt you or cause concern for someone you care for, you can turn off your device or switch it to aeroplane mode before the test time and leave it off for 24 hours.
